New Business Creation

Paul Davis claims Kansas ranks 45th in new business creation and last in the region in job growth.

Reality Check:

The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes quarterly job gains (by way of new and expanding businesses) and losses (by closing and contracting businesses) in Business Employment Dynamics. Per their report, Kansas’s average quarterly growth by new and expanding business since the 1st quarter of 2011 ranks 15th nowhere near 45th and when the growth rate is isolated to the months in 2013, Kansas is the second fastest state in the nation.
